SUPPORT US

How We Operate

Each year, Susquehanna University Press receives a small allocation from the endowment established by Dr. Frederic Brush in 1944. The rest of our operating expenses are covered via university awards and grants, departmental contributions, start-up funds from the Sigmund Weis School of Business, and income generated from sales of our books and merchandise.

The majority of our annual budget is spent on supplies, equipment, printing costs, postage, and community events. On occasion, we also pay to table at local book fairs, regional festivals, and national conferences.

What We’ve Accomplished

Since relaunching in 2022, SU Press has:

  • Released a full-length short story collection and handcrafted mini book by SU alum Patrick Thomas Henry (’08)

  • Launched an e-commerce store with an integrated POS system for direct distribution

  • Partnered with CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps to offer our first full-time position

  • Served over two hundred undergraduates through our courses, internships, editorial assistantships, and hands-on projects

  • Worked with a select group of students to design, prototype, manufacture, and sell their products

  • Offered layout, book arts, marketing, and sales training, in addition to community-focused programming

  • Developed partnerships with Snyder County Libraries and local small businesses

DONATE TO US

We operate under Susquehanna University’s EIN and gladly accept tax-deductible donations of cash or art supplies, printing equipment, and event planning supplies from our wishlist.

We are always on the lookout for book arts equipment, including old printing presses and wooden and metal type. We also accept working typewriters, phonographs, and record players.

If you have vintage equipment you are interested in donating, please reach out to us!

SUSTAIN US

Our Goals

As a small business, we understand the importance of sustainable scaling. We’re careful about optimizing our financial, physical, and human resources, with the goal of gradual growth and long-term success. As part of our 5-year strategic plan, we hope to:

  • Secure a permanent source of funding for our full-time AmeriCorps position, including a supervisor course release and additional housing stipend

  • Equip and furnish a dedicated studio space for the Press where students can print and manufacture their products

  • Establish a micro retail space on campus where students can practice marketing books and handcrafted products from other small presses, artists, and undergraduates
